Three USZ researchers granted funding

Three researchers at USZ are to receive funding from the Novartis Research Foundation’s FreeNovation program. The annual call for proposals is designed to support unconventional projects that are rarely considered by other funding programs. Each selected project receives around CHF 180,000 for a period of 18 months.

The projects and project heads receiving funding in 2020:

Professor Charlotte Brüggen, Attending Physician at the Department of Dermatology
Project: Connection between mycobiomes of intestine and skin in neurodermatitis
Professor Karin Metzner, Department of Infectious Diseases and Hospital Epidemiology
Project: New gene therapy approach to viral diseases
Elena De Cecco PhD, postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Neuropathology
Project: Genetic influences in prion diseases

We would like to warmly congratulate these researchers and wish them every success in completing their projects! The FreeNovation program is promoted by the USZ Foundation at University Hospital Zurich.
