The USZ Innovation Pool gets bold ideas off the ground – ideas that have a direct impact on people’s quality of life. Every year the Innovation Pool manages to support 15 trailblazing projects. But the potential for innovation at USZ is even greater. If more financial resources were available, more researchers could make their vision a reality.

Thanks to the USZ Foundation’s donors, Andreas Güntner can do precisely that: make his ideas happen. He’s developing sensors to monitor exhaled breath so that metabolic diseases can be detected at an early stage. He laid the basis as a mechanical engineer at ETH Zurich. To make his innovation available to patients as quickly as possible, he’s now doing research at USZ. His project has enormous potential: In the future the idea is to be able to also diagnose other diseases via the breath.

It’s extraordinary projects like this that thanks to your support will benefit us all tomorrow. Together with supporting partners, the USZ Foundation intends to make twice as many innovations possible. The goal is to give 15 additional researchers, every year, the freedom to get their bold ideas off the ground.
