Support Swiss allergy study

Breathe freely instead of a stuffy nose. Help the approximately two million Swiss pollen allergy sufferers and support a study by the Allergy Unit at the University Hospital Zurich together with the University Hospital Zurich Foundation.

Burning eyes, drippy nose, itchy skin: Around two million people in Switzerland suffer from physical discomfort during the pollen season. But where do the symptoms occur most? In town or in the country? In which cantons? And what factors, such as weather, influence them?

With the app “Ally Science”, the Department of Dermatology’s Allergy Unit at University Hospital Zurich collects data to improve early warning systems and treatments for pollen allergy sufferers. The smartphone app for Android and iOS has been available since April 2018 and has been downloaded over 7,000 times. The anonymized data of the users are stored in encrypted form and serve as the basis for a scientific study on pollen allergy. The research project is headed by Professor Peter Schmid-Grendelmeier, head of the Allergy Unit.

So far, around 65 percent of the entire project has been financed. The University Hospital Zurich Foundation is looking for additional supporting partners for the study. Support the research project and help provide relief to people suffering from the effects of pollen and similar allergens in the future.
