The University Hospital Zurich Foundation can look back on a successful first year. Donatios have made it possible to start initial projects. Read more in the Foundation’s Annual Report 2017.
Creating medical innovations that directly improve people’s lives: With this in mind, the University Hospital Zurich Foundation was founded in March 2017. Now she can look back on a successful first year and says to her supporting partners: Thank you very much! With donations of CHF 3.4 million, several promising projects have already been launched.
Two examples: With the “Schwindelbus”, or “Vertigo Bus”, the University Hospital Zurich will visit retirement and nursing homes and enable elderly people to be diagnosed and treated for vertigo directly at their place of residence. In the “ICU Cockpit” project, Big Data is used to increase patient safety in intensive care units: Algorithms will prevent false alarms and better detect risk situations. “These projects are exemplary,” says President of the Board Thomas Wellauer. “We want to help make more innovations from research and development available to patients.”
Keyword innovation: medicine will change greatly in the coming decades. Digitalization and personalized medicine open up new possibilities for prevention, diagnosis and therapy. The University Hospital Zurich wants to help shape the medicine of tomorrow. “Our supporting partners help us to be leaders in quality and innovation: optimal treatment and care, patient safety and a high quality of life for our patients,” says Gregor Zünd, Chairman of the USZ Hospital Management.
