Hundreds of medical students have been supporting University Hospital Zurich and other hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic. This is a quick and effective way of taking the strain off regular healthcare personnel. At the end of April received the University of Zurich’s 2020 team effort award. Specifically, the award went to the 2020 Staatsverein, the organization of that year’s medical students, which initiated the project.
Since the Staatsverein offered its support to University Hospital Zurich way back in March 2020, the initiative has enabled more than 800 students to put in tens of thousands of hours of work at USZ and other hospitals.
Three foundations are supporting the USZ Corona Solidarity Fund with this project: The Ernst Göhner Foundation, the Georg and Bertha Schwyzer-Winiker Foundation, and the DEAR Foundation – Solidarité Suisse.
